San Luis Pass Inlet Management Study

Brazoria County, Texas

San Luis Pass Morphology Evaluation, TX

Coast & Harbor Engineering performed a feasibility study for the Texas General Land Office as part of a marsh restoration project that would create a reusable sediment source for beach nourishment along the Gulf shoreline reducing erosion and restoring marsh habitat within adjacent bays. The study identified the optimum location and dimensions for sediment trap(s) that would capture sediments moving from the Gulf into the flood delta while at the same time minimizing or reducing existing erosional trends along the adjacent San Luis Pass Shoreline. Through consultation and coordination with regulatory agencies, areas of concern were identified and the potential impacts from constructing the project were explored through analysis and modeling and a permit application was prepared for the selected alternative.
